Good news indeed. I just wish they had done this a few years ago.
About 3 or 4 years ago when Red Hat first announced their “enterprise” Linux, I was in a meeting with Martin Fink of HP. He was talking about Red Hat, and HP’s relationship with Debian. I asked him & the HP sales-rep why don’t HP support Debian, it offers everything that RHEL offers; stability, versions which are supported for a long time, dedicated developers, dedicated users and so on. They looked at me like I was nuts. If only they had, Debian & HP might have made the “enterprise” Linux space a 3-way between Debian, Novell, & Red Hat.
Before I get flamed! I use “Enterprise” in the sense that big companies do; someone to phone at 4am to complain too …
