Thanks to the advice both from comments here, and from e-mails I’ve received (thanks!), I’ve ordered a HP tc1100 tablet. Woohoo.
I do hope that the Linux ACPI support for it is ironed out by the time it arrives :-)

I have a fairly expensive high end Dell laptop and normally swear by Dell, But the don’t seem to have noticed Linux. Power saving featues *still* do not work properly.
I would like to move to a tablet but only if the manufacturer really does support Linux.
Please ,,, PLEASE let me know if your new HP works … including power save features.
I’ll buy one if it works.
