I'm looking at VPS hosts right now, and was really thinking of going with VPSLink, but now I'm not so sure...NeoSurge as linked above looks pretty cool, and I've also looked at Slicehost, although they're a bit more expensive than the other two.

Anyway, what I wanted to tell you is that you can use a swap file instead of a swap partition in these cases ;)

Neosurge (company I work for) provides excellent quality VPS services for less then VPS Link does. We pride ourselves on high reliability and the most cost effective solution around.

Come check us out :)

vpslink.com close my website without notifying me.

Some days ago i registered in vpslink.com and use its vps for hosting my website.
But 8 hours ago, they closed my web service without notifying me because i do not reply them a ticket:

"
Greetings,

Your order has been received and approved. However, we do need a full
address and city entered into the account. Please reply to this email
including your street address and city so we may update our records.
Let us know if you have any questions.

"

In fact, i do not recieve any email to notify this ticket. But they closed my website. They say that i must wait unitl tomorrow morning their bill staff review.

Now, my website is still closed.

I do not known why they did not call me via phone before close my website, why they did such rude things.

Now i have to search for another web hosting service because i do not believe in vpslink.com any more.

I am very upset and I hate them. They make me a great loss.

Actually, I just had a horrible experience with VPSLink. Long story short, they did not protect our Xen4 (we were paying $40/mo not $10/mo) against a remote exploit and tried to charge us $500 to "reinstate" our VPS after their lax security caused a break in. I highly recommend looking somewhere else (we are currently reviewing alternative options)

I'm curious to see if you renewed with VPSlink or went elsewhere.

I'm looking for a vps/dvs, but not in the market to spend more than 20 a month, any suggestions?

Hi - are you able to say who you've ended up going with? I've had excellent and very well-priced service for a couple of years from Openhosting with only one problem, I'm in New Zealand which is a lot of network hops away from the OH servers. I've been checking out a VPSLink account for a couple of months and have noticed some of the same memory issues you write about.

I've had excellent service at VPSLink. Maybe I'm just lucky though. There are some issues, but I've noticed that the biggest problem is that people are coming on to the service with some expectations that aren't true. For example, swap space, burstable RAM, etc. Some other VPS providers allow these. VPSLink does not -- and often times with good reason. But on the flip side the services are incredibly inexpensive. You can't expect dedicated server levels of service on a shared hosting budget. But if you come to VPSLink, do your research about what you're buying and ask questions when you aren't sure, VPSLink is a great provider. I currently have 2 VPSs with them and will be adding additional in the very near future.

Thanks for the comments, John. Very helpful.

I've been using Johncompanies for a couple of years, and am generally pretty happy with them, but they're more expensive than I want to pay (mid plan $79), and so I'm always looking out for alternatives. It sounds like VPSLink is one that I will not try.
