Some Reactions

February 21st, 2006

About a week ago, we spent some time calling, e-mailing, and visiting family and friends. Here are some of the things we heard from various people:

“Really? Good.”

“Oh! Congratulations!”

“Happy Congratulations!”

*uncertain nervous silence*

“I’m happy for both of you.”

“HOLY COW!”

“Wow!” (Then some excited laughter)

“I wondered. How are you feeling?”

“That’s sweet. Thank you [for calling]. You’ll be great parents.”

“That’s very exciting.” … “We’ll have to get out the grandparent mugs!”

“Oh, I’m just so thrilled! My first great grandchild!”

“WOW! IS LIFE EVER EXCITING! Blessings to all three of you!”

“Did I hear you right? Everyone — TERAH’S PREGNANT!

Yes, you did hear right! Terah is pregnant! She’s due in October. This will be our first child.

We’re pretty excited! And also a little nervous. And trying to figure out how to arrange our house — its floorplan isn’t the most convenient for young children.

2006 is certainly going to be an exciting year!

I really wonder how this is related to debian planet. I mean congrats and best wishes and such, but I just don’t see the connection to debian…

John: Wow, congrats! My best wishes to the three of you! High times ahead ;)
housetier: planet.debian.org is (on my perception) not only a platform for exchanging Debian information, it’s mainly a platform that allows the different members of the Debian community to keep track of each other and see how and what everyone is doing, without reading ~200 individual blogs. In this regard John’s post fits there perfectly!

  2. The Changelog

Last month, I wrote about some reactions to the news that we’re expecting a baby. Now we have some additional news that we’ve been sharing with people. Here are some of the reactions we’re getting.

“You have NO IDEA what you’re getting in to.”
