The Changelog

Yesterday I ran Windows Update on Terah's laptop, which runs Windows XP. My #1 annoyance: WTF does it sit there for about 2 minutes "preparing to download"?!!!! I can just start a download -- even on Windows -- without having to take 2 minutes to "prepare" to download a 500K file! Additional annoyances: you have to run Windows Update about 3 times (and reboot after each one) to get it to truly offer you all the updates. It takes about 5 minutes to do the same sort of thing on my Debian box. About an hour on XP. Fume fume. Someone should start alt.windows.update.die.die.die.

Rant #2: DAMMIT SPRINT, I DO NOT WANT CALL WAITING, CALL FORWARDING, LINE GUARD, OR ANY OTHER CRAP THAT COSTS ME $30. I certainly wouldn't buy a plan to have you fix my indoor phone lines. You're the ones that messed them up in the first place. I want a phone line and I want DSL. Nothing else. SO PLEASE STOP CALLING ME EVERY WEEK. Thank you.
