Have you had he chance to give more input from your’s and Terah’s experience over the last couple of months? have you had a chance to use the 32gb or 64gb models? I hear they are faster running than the 8gb model?

I too just got an itouch. I’m upgrading (if that’s the word) from a beloved n800 that simply won’t do thanks to its lack of a calendar.

Please do let us know what else you discover that former maemo users will find helpful.

I’ve drooled at iPod Touch before, but the “you need to activate it with iTunes” was a deal-breaker for me.

I’ve spent 30 seconds playing with the web browser on the first generation iPhone. It felt better than the one on the N810, although not as good as seen on the iPhone ads. The smaller screen resolution, compared to N810, was very noticeable. (I had the same reaction to a first-generation Kindle: “just like paper? with these big blocky pixels? no, thanks”)

I’m now playing with a N900. The web browser is light-years ahead of the N810, and feels very iPhone’y. It’s not without its own share of quirks, and the N900 overall is still more oriented to developers than casual users, but I like it a lot.

I ordered a free ipod touch because I had accumulated points on my credit card (it should come in the mail any day now)but after what you just wrote I an see the limits of a proprietary system. I ve been running Debian for 8 years now and I really prefer all things open-source. If I had the money I d get the new Motorola smartphone running Android 2.0

I also upgraded to IPod Touch when my previous PDA (Acer N311) became dead. I used many of Palm Devices before, and some of win mobile devices, but ipod looks as very easy to use, and perform my standard tasks – maintaining notes, calender, contacts and books reading
